Turn on the Light

I took the family to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament this week and it was just as fun as it was the first time I went. I was hoping to get an awesome shot of the Knights in action during the tournament. I envisioned the picture in my head the entire drive to the Castle.

However, something else caught my eye when  the show started. This candle stole the show from the Knights... well at least the part of the show that was going to get posted on my blog. Using Portrait Mode, I was able to get the candle and my menu in focus. The candles in the background gave the bokeh effect the perfect oomph. No flash required. This is by far one of my favorite pictures due to the simplicity and beauty of what's portrayed.

It reminded me that you don't always have to look ahead or too far into the future for enjoyment. Sometimes, the here and now is more than enough. You’ve seen those “inspirational quotes” about not being on your phone all the time. I disagree. These are the moments I capture, the moments that people call fleeting. I live to capture the beauty that surrounds us and sure, I use my phone. So while you look down on me for looking down on my phone, I’m making something wonderful.
